Wow, what a flight. 10 hours from cold Detroit with a stop in Minneapolis. However, at that stop, we picked up 136 high school dance and band students. We thought about going to the bar to have drinks but the kids weren't that bad on that 9 hour leg of the trip.
We arrived and was taken to our hotel, the Wakiki Hyatt. It is right across from the beach and sitting on our balcony (28 stories up!) we get to watch the surfers. The locals told us that Wakiki beach was getting huge surf this time of year and that was the reason why it is so busy with tourists and locals.
After having left Michigan at 5 AM, arriving in Hawaii at 3 PM (9 PM Michigan time) and then walking around until 7 PM Hawaiian time, Heather and I shared a picture of margaritas and then crashed...
